155 | Healing Through Archery With Chris Hamm

What are you holding back?

Today I am talking with Chris Hamm and we dive into a deep conversation about family, archery, healing, community, and growth.

What we are holding back can often be the one thing that needs to be released in order for us to come home to our families.  Doesn’t matter if its war, service, or a really bad thought.

Chris is not a Veteran but archery has been a part of his life since he was a boy and now as a business owner he runs a non-profit helping Veterans find a tool to heal through what life has given them.

He has some amazing stories so far with the work they have been doing and the Veterans who are already becoming change makers passing it on because of what Chris and his events helped them learn.

Topics Covered:

  • The magic of firing an arrow down range
  • Benefits of Archery
  • Why is it important to always be learning a new skill
  • The Archery community
  • Healing through Archery
  • What the misconceptions around Archery
  • Finding people like passions
  • Creating anchor memories with kids
  • Leaving the tools with your kids on how to overcome trauma

At age 13, Tyson became an entrepreneur for the first time: he opened a snowball stand in his small hometown. This was his first taste of Financial Independence, and he was hooked.

By 20, Tyson was a helicopter pilot in the Army. Although making more than he ever had, he was also the most in-debt. Thanks to Desert Storm and the inability to spend money on ANYTHING, he paid down that debt – another financial lesson learned.

After leaving the military and with GI Bill funds in-hand, Tyson earned a Bachelors degree in English and a Masters degree in Philosophy. Faced with few job prospects, however, Tysonturned to I.T. He spent 25 years in software development, working for several large corporations, then founded OnTrajectory.com – a personal finance tool for both consumers and professionals. Tyson’s new life goal is to bring easy and accurate financial modeling to everyone.

Topics Covered:

  • Becoming a helicopter pilot
  • Everything is doable mindset
  • Missing the belief that you could do anything
  • Vulnerability in the Military
  • Not being a quitter
  • Why is it important to see the world
  • Changing Perspective
  • Staying on track with your dreams
  • Getting assumptions out of the way
  • Rejecting others opinions
  • Setting boundaries with kids
