Epitaph “When I Die” | FATHERHOOD FRIDAY

Epitaph “When I Die” | FATHERHOOD FRIDAY

Today I share an update that interview shows will be back April 5th and I will continue to release Fatherhood Fridays.

And a poem that was recently shared on a recent episode of NCIS

Epitaph – When I Die
By Merrit Malloy

When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old men that wait to die.

And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.

Look for me
In the people, I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on in your eyes
And not your mind.

You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
By letting bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That needs to be free.

Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away.

Have a Plan to Come Home with Joshua Johnson

Have a Plan to Come Home with Joshua Johnson

Have you ever had to be the new team lead, manager, or director at work? I bet it was scary and felt really uncomfortable, but in the back of your mind, you knew how to step into this new role and told yourself you got this. Today’s guest Joshua Johnson went through this process regularly while serving in the military going from unit to unit. He knew he had to be an observer in those first few weeks, and slowly step into the role and find his place. While serving in the Army in the special forces his family adapted a similar process that they learned when followed it, it worked. This episode is Joshua Johnson’s story through a 30 plus year military career and how his family didn’t just survive but thrived.

  • Week 2 – Your Family

114 | A Story of Anger and Redemption with Blake Mattocks

114 | A Story of Anger and Redemption with Blake Mattocks

Is your life happening to you or for you?

This question trips me up at least once a week when I hit a setback or run into a feeling that I can’t shake.

A lot of those times those feelings are rooted in a deeper feeling that I haven’t looked at or dealt with.  And to quote Elsa, its typically something I just needed to “let it go.”

Blake has a story that looking back with a 20/20 perspective of life, it is clear to me his life was unfolding in a way that was preparing him for bigger trials, bigger tests requiring larger acts of courage and integrity.

If you are at a point in your life where you are struggling to get through and find the right path, I am certain this episode will be a flashlight for you.

    Topics Covered:

    • Joining the military because of angry
    • Losing a parent while on active duty
    • Letting angry govern your life
    • Taking off the masks we wear
    • Rising up and learning to fall down with integrity
    • The masks that we wear
    • Fathering through angry
    • Leaning into the community through trials and tests
